Our History

Mid-States Construction, Inc. was brought to life in 1975 by Donald Shaum Sr. in Elkhart, Indiana. Donald “Sr.” built his general contractor business with a vision to see his local community grow and expand. Mid-States now has over 45 years of specializing in on-site preparation, concrete work, and pre-engineered steel building erection.

Mid-States has continued to grow through the knowledge and determination of President, Donald Shaum Jr. “Jr.” set his sights on taking Mid-States to a higher standard. While continuing to build the Northern Indiana community, he developed relationships nationwide providing services in concrete work and steel-erected buildings.

With its foundation built upon family, hard work, and integrity, Mid-States has become a leading general contractor in Northern Indiana and nationwide.
